According to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, this year's Victory Day parade in Red Square will have the participation of more than 9,000 people and about 75 military equipment and weapons units as well as aircraft of the Russian Air and Space Force participating in the parade.
Procedures for celebrating Victory Day are stipulated in the Federal Law dated May 19, 1995: "On making the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 immortal".
Under the law, parades involving weapons, military equipment and artillery will be held on May 9 in Moscow, with cities and heroic cities headquartered by military regions, fleets, the army of armed forces and the Caspian fleet.
The parade formation includes soldiers from many different branches of the Russian Armed Forces. Traditionally, military school students, Cossacks and military bands will participate in the parade.
