CNN said the explosives were placed in a suitable location to crush two cranes on the afternoon of October 20.
A part of the hard Rock hotel under construction suddenly collapsed on October 12, killing 3 people and injuring 30 others. Only 1 body has been found.
After the collapse, New Orleans authorities found that the structure of the building and the two cranes was unstable, so they decided to demolish the cranes to ensure the safety of people and surrounding houses.
At a press conference, New Orleans officials were satisfied with the crane destruction. "We know that we are safer now than we have been for the past 8 days," CNN quoted LaToya Cantrell as saying. The next steps are to search for the two victims who died in the rubble, Cantell said.
