Andriy Yermak resigned on November 28. He is a top assistant and a closest figure to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and has also been a key negotiator in Ukrainian negotiations with US officials on a peace plan to end the conflict with Russia.
The resignation came hours after Ukrainian officials searched Andriy Yermak's private home and office as part of a corruption investigation.
Chief of the Ukrainian presidential administration Andriy Yermak returned from Geneva this week after taking on the role of head of the negotiation delegation with US officials on the US- proposed 28-point peace plan.
Previously, there was information that he was likely involved in a major corruption scandal that is shaking the Ukrainian government.
Ukrainian anti-corruption agencies said they have discovered a plot involving significant bribes from Ukraine's energy and defense sectors, two areas most sensitive to the Ukrainian public in the context of the conflict.
President Zelensky announced Yermak's resignation in his speech on the evening of November 28, mentioning this informally along with other contents related to the development of the conflict in Ukraine.
"I am grateful to Andriy for always properly representing Ukraine's stance in the negotiation process. That is always a patriotic stance. But I want to clarify so as not to have rumors or speculations. As for the new head of the office, I will consult with candidates who can take this position tomorrow," the Ukrainian leader said.
