Astronomer's board of directors accepted CEO Andy Byron's resignation on July 19 and began searching for a replacement.
"Astronomer is committed to the values and cultures that have guided us since our inception. Our leaders are expected to set standards for both behavior and accountability, and recently, that standard has not been met," the New York-based company said in a statement on July 19.
Previously, on July 18, Astronomer officially announced the launch of an investigation into Byron after a video of him hugging a woman was circulated online.
CEO Byron was spotted hugging a woman on the big screen at a Coldplay concert on July 16 in Foxborough, Massachusetts, USA.
Some media outlets identified the woman as Kristin Cabot, Astronomer's human resources director.
Astronomer, a New York-based private company, produces software that helps companies deploy workflow management technology.
The video features CEO Byron after Chris Martin, Coldplay's lead singer, asked the studio to search for couples in the crowd while performing a song.
When the camera pointed at a couple, it was seen the man hugging the woman and smiling. Seeing her image on the big screen, the woman suddenly hugged her face, left the camera and the man also avoided the frame.
"Either they were cheating or were very shy," singer Chris Martin joked.
Most concert venue locations have signs informing the audience about the possibility of filming during the event. This is a popular practice, especially when bands want to use a performance for a video or music video. Coldplay's venue - Gillette Stadium - also has a notice that clearly states this policy.
