According to SCMP, Alex Kwong appeared in court for being accused of being involved in 7 thefts between 8-10 years ago.
Alex Kwong escaped a theft since 2015 and was arrested by Hong Kong police last week for being involved in the death of his ex-wife Abby Choi. Kwong is currently being detained without a guarantee.
Abby Choi's ex-husband was charged with seven thefts, including the theft of 39 necklaces, 32 bracelets, 13 gold bars, 102 nuts, 6 necklaces and 10 taels of gold in seven separate cases between May 2013 and January 2015.
The items stolen by Alex Kwong are believed to belong to 7 individuals. The incidents occurred at multiple locations, including Mong Kok, today's Yau Ma Tei, as well as the Harbour Plaza Metropolis hotel in Hung Hom.
The prosecutor has requested a 10-week postponement of the case to re-examine the evidence and did not rule out the possibility of new allegations.
District Chief Justice Justin Ko King-sau informed Alex Kwong that the court had confiscated his bond in November 2015 after he fled and did not appear in court. After that, the police issued a search warrant for Alex Kwong.
In the trial on February 28, the judge ordered Kwong to be detained pending trial on May 9.
