On November 24, three suicide bombers targeted the headquarters of the Pakistan semi-military border force, killing three staff and injuring at least five others.
According to police, the attackers opened fire when they broke into the headquarters of the border force in Peshawar city before detonating bombs inside the complex.
Javed Iqbal, Deputy Border Guard Commander, said three paramilitary personnel were killed. A senior official said the first suicide bomber to attack the main gate of the border agency and others entered the building.
The headquarters of the force is located in a densely populated area of Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. "The road has been closed and blocked by the army, police and security guards," said safdar Khan, a resident in the area.
Mr. Mohammad Asim, a spokesman for Lady Reading Hospital, said that 5 injured people, including 2 semi-military staff, were taken to the hospital.
Law enforcement, including the military and police, have blocked off the area and are handling the situation cautiously as they suspect some terrorists inside the headquarters.
No group of fighters have so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
Hoi giao fighters active in the area have stepped up attacks in recent weeks following deadly border clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan last month.
Pakistan has blamed the Taliban regime in Afghanistan for containing fighters that it said launched cross-border attacks, something Khanh denied.
