The General Administration of Customs said that in the first quarter of 2025, China reduced its oil imports from Russia by 14.7% to 24.315 million tons.
The value of Russian oil reached 13 billion USD in this quarter, down 22% compared to the same period last year. Russia remains a leading oil supplier to China.
In March 2025, Russia supplied 8.85 million tons of oil to China, up 14% compared to February this year. The value of oil imports in March 2025 reached 4.6 billion USD, up 9% compared to February 2025.
In 2024, China increased its oil imports from Russia by 1.3% compared to the same period last year, reaching 108.47 million tons.
In addition to Russian oil, on the same day, April 20, the General Administration of Customs of China informed that Russia's liquefied natural gas imports into China decreased by 18.7% in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year, down to about 1.3 million tons. According to published data, import turnover decreased by 24% in value to 800.61 million USD.
In 2024, China will import 76.64 million tons of LNG, up 8% compared to 2023. LNG supply from Russia alone increased by 3.3% over the same period, reaching 8.3 million tons.
