VNA reported that on December 18, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Ambassadors and Heads of Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad before departing for their missions. Speaking at the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man stated that the Party and State always attach importance to the position and role of foreign affairs in the past cause of national liberation as well as in the current national construction and defense. The locations where the Ambassadors and Heads of representative missions are major and important partners of Vietnam, important international organizations such as the United Nations and many other countries and partners across many continents.
The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that from an isolated country, Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with 194 countries, and has strategic partnerships and comprehensive partnerships with 32 countries, of which Vietnam has comprehensive strategic partnerships with 9 countries. After 40 years of renovation, from a poor country, Vietnam has risen to become a middle-income country. The macro economy is stable, ensuring growth and controlling inflation. National defense and security are maintained. Social security is concerned; the material and spiritual life of the people is improved. In particular, foreign affairs work contributes to enhancing Vietnam's position and stature in the international arena.
The National Assembly Chairman said that the recent 8th Session had a large volume of legislative content, passing 18 laws, contributing to perfecting the institution and creating a more favorable legal corridor for domestic and foreign investors. The National Assembly Chairman requested Ambassadors and Heads of Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad to pay attention to promoting implementation to soon bring the provisions of the law and resolutions into life.
Congratulating the Ambassadors and Heads of Representative Agencies who have been assigned the glorious task as General Secretary To Lam said, "bringing the bell to fight for other countries", contributing to consolidating and enhancing the image and position of the country in the international arena, the National Assembly Chairman hopes that the Ambassadors and Heads of diplomatic representative agencies will continue to play a good role in connecting the Vietnamese National Assembly with international parliamentary organizations and forums.
The National Assembly Chairman stated that 2025 is an important year, marking the 95th anniversary of the Party's founding, the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country; the year of holding Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Congress of the Party - marking the time when the country enters a new era, an era of national growth.
In that context, Ambassadors and Heads of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad need to have a firm grasp of the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws to promptly inform the overseas Vietnamese community, such as visa exemption policies, the 2024 Land Law, the 2023 Housing Law, the 2023 Real Estate Business Law, the 2023 Identity Card Law, etc., especially new regulations related to the rights of our compatriots.
Ambassadors and heads of Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad affirmed that they will make efforts, strive, unite, promote their capacity, closely follow the locality; well implement the foreign policies and guidelines of the Party and State; and promote Vietnam's relations with countries and international organizations to become deeper, more practical and more effective in the coming time.
