According to the USGS, three strong earthquakes occurred in the same area off the coast of Petropavlovsk - Petropavlovsk within 32 minutes.
Two Russian Pacific coastal earthquakes were strong at 6.7 on the Richter scale and one was strong at 7.4 on the Richter scale, the Geological Survey said.
Meanwhile, Germany's GFZ Center for Geological Sciences also confirmed that at least one 6.7-magnitude earthquake was recorded east of Kamchatka on July 20.
Initially, the GFZ Center for Geological Sciences said that the earthquake near the coast of Kamchatka region in Russia's far east was 6.2 degrees richter, then adjusted to 6.6 degrees richter. The earthquake was at a depth of 10 km.
Another 6.7 Richter earthquake off the east coast of Kamchatka was also 10 km deep, right after the first, according to GFZ.
The latest earthquake off Russian soil comes just days after the July 16 earthquake in the US. The 7.3-magnitude richterake occurred northwest of Popof Island, off the coast of Alaska Peninsula, about 965km southwest of Anchorage City. The center of the earthquake was located about 87km south of Sand Point, according to the USGS.
