The forecast for rain from May 27-29 shows that the southern provinces of China will experience the heaviest rainfall since the beginning of the year - Xinhua News Agency reported.
According to the National Meteorological Center (NMC), this rain will fall on Guizhou, the southern part of the Yangtze River and the entire southern part of the country - which has experienced heavy rain many times since the beginning of May. Some places are warned of extremely heavy rain, posing a high risk of natural disasters.
This is the fourth major rainstorm since May 13 in southern China.
China's meteorological and natural disaster prevention agencies simultaneously issued flash flood warnings (green level - lowest level among 4 levels) in Yunnan and landslide warnings (yellow level - lowest level 3) in the Central and Western Yunnan areas.
These warnings are in effect from the evening of May 26 to the evening of May 27, and may continue to be updated in the coming days.
In parallel with the weather warning, rescue forces are still trying to find missing people in the flash flood in Sanshe village, Long Thang district, Que Lam city (Quang Tay province) that occurred in the early morning of May 24.
As of the evening of May 26, the number of dead had increased to 6, with 2 people still unknown. The local government has mobilized 9 rescue teams to continue the large-scale search.
