The latest storm information from Taiwan's weather agency CWA said that the tropical depression in the eastern Philippines strengthened into Typhoon Yinxing on the night of November 3.
The latest typhoon is about 2,000 km from Taiwan. Typhoon Yinxing is moving northwest at a speed of 29 km/h, with maximum sustained winds of 64 km/h near the center and gusts of 90 km/h.
CWA weather forecaster Liu Yu-chih said the latest storm after super typhoon Kong-rey is in an optimal environment to strengthen.
Regarding the path of Typhoon Yinxing, he predicted that the storm will move along its trajectory northeast of the Philippine island of Luzon until November 6. The CWA forecaster stressed that November 6 will be a key date for Typhoon Yinxing as it could change course. Current forecasts show that Typhoon Yinxing is likely to weaken and impact the Ryukyu Islands - a chain of islands in the western Pacific Ocean near the eastern edge of the East China Sea.
However, some typhoon forecast models predict that Typhoon Yinxing will likely head west and pass north of the Philippines. Some other models predict that the typhoon is likely to move to the sea east of Taiwan (China) and then north from there, Liu pointed out.
According to this expert, more observation is needed to determine whether Typhoon Yinxing will affect Taiwan (China). As Typhoon Yinxing approaches, it could bring large waves to the northern coast of Keelung, the eastern half of Taiwan (China) on November 6. The wind-reversing areas in northern and northeastern Taiwan (China) are forecast to have heavy rain on November 8 or 9.
Hong Kong's Dimsumdaily (China) page quoted information from the European Center for Medium-term Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) and many other AI weather forecast models as saying that Typhoon Yinxing may enter the central area of the northern East Sea this week.
The bulletin stated that the latest typhoon Yinxing is expected to enter the 800 km warning zone of Hong Kong (China) at 2:00 a.m. on November 9. When Typhoon Yinxing approaches Hong Kong (China), this storm will be at typhoon level. The Hong Kong Observatory (China) warned that the path and further developments of the potential storm No. 7 in the East Sea are still uncertain.
The latest forecast from the Japan Meteorological Agency on the path of Typhoon Yinxing shows that the storm will enter the East Sea. It is expected that around November 8-9, Typhoon Yinxing will begin entering the East Sea as a typhoon. In particular, on November 9, when the storm is expected to be in the northern part of the East Sea, maximum sustained winds near the center of the storm are expected to be at 126 km/h, with maximum gusts of 180 km/h. The storm warning radius could be up to 430 km.
Yinxing is the 22nd storm in the western Pacific Ocean in the 2024 typhoon season. The name Yinxing was used to replace the name Yutu in 2018. The word Yinxing in Chinese means big fruit tree.
