The 2020 Tokyo Olympics began in Tokyo on July 23, and to honor Japanese culture and sports in general, Google has launched a new interactive Doodle with artwork from Japanese animation studio 4°C.
The new Doodle - called Doodle Champion Island Games - is actually a series of 16-bit Olympic-themed games that you can play, contributing to the scores of the four teams that Google will track on the global rankings.
Playing lucky the Calico Ninja Cat, you can join the Blue, Red, Gold or Green Leaf Teams, represented by Ushi ( cow), Karasu (crab), Inari (fyke) or Kappa (Japanese turtle - like water god).
The seven games are divided into a number of new and old summer Olympic events, such as ice skating, table tennis and mountain climbing, each game has its own legendary champion to challenge the history and folk culture of Japan.
The entire video game looks like a miniature sports game. You can play, complete side tasks as well as experience the artwork created by Studio 4°C for Doodle.
Google calls it a tribute to the classic Japanese 16-bit game.
