South Korean police have banned former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and former Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok from leaving the country as part of an investigation into allegations of rebellion related to former President Yoon Suk Yeol's attempt to declare martial law.
The information was revealed by a South Korean police officer to Yonhap.
The ban on exiting the country for former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and former Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok has been in place since mid-May.
Han Duck-soo and Choi Sang-mok were questioned by a special police unit on May 26 for alleged rebellion.
After former President Yoon Suk Yeol was impeached, there were questions about the role of former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and former Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok in the martial law decree and whether the two would fight against martial law.
The martial law declared on December 3, 2024 has plunged South Korea into an unprecedented constitutional crisis, in which both Han Duck-soo and Choi Sang-mok will take turns as president.
South Koreans will vote in the extraordinary election on June 3 to elect a new leader.
