The two container ships were launched at a shipyard in Taitung City, Jiangsu Province, eastern China on October 29 - according to Jiangsu Yangzi Xinfu Shipbuilding Co. Ltd.
With a capacity of 24,346 TEUs (a unit equivalent to 20 feet), these two container ships set a new record in the world's largest super container shipbuilding sector of China.
The ships are 399.99 meters long, 61.3 meters wide and have a cover area of up to 24,000 square meters, equivalent to 3.5 standard soccer courts.
The two ships will be handed over to the owner in February next year after completing all equipment and sea testing. Four other ships are also expected to be delivered in 2023.
Super container ships are ships with a capacity of 10,000 TEUs or more.
China's shipping industry continued to lead in international market share in the first three quarters of this year, with container ships over 10,000 TEUs accounting for 51.7% of the global market, according to data released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information.
