A search and rescue helicopter found the Cessna-182 in a forest near Nam Huay Sai Kho in Muang district, 30km north of the airport.
The plane left Mae Hong Son airport at 11:05 a.m. on July 5 to assist the patrol force in monitoring resource destruction activities. The plane was assigned to the northern area of Mae Hong Son.
When the plane reached an altitude of 762m and was 18km north of the air traffic control station, the plane disappeared from radar screens and lost contact.
According to the Bangkok Post, the two pilots on the plane were Lieutenant Naruepol Pookthong and Lieutenant Varoj Plaengkrathok. The remaining two people on the plane were Lieutenant Khemmaraj Duangkaew and soldier Natchanon Khuenkaew.
The Thai military announced that 3 lieutenant soldiers had died, the remaining soldier survived but suffered a broken bone and was still conscious. The cause of the accident is being investigated.
The 21st Air Force Battalion of the Thai army has 9 Cessna-182, of which 4 are being repaired and maintained.
Also on July 5, regarding the capsize of two passenger ships in Phuket, authorities said that all 138 people were stranded. As of 9:00 p.m. on July 5, 89 people had been rescued by the Royal Thai Navy, Coast Guard and fishing vessels, 49 people were still missing.
One tourist was seriously injured and nine others were slightly injured.
Phuket Norapat Plodthong said the Phoenix PD diving boat carrying 97 people capsized at Koh Hae at 5:45 p.m. Fourteen of them were rescued at 9pm the same day. The second accident occurred in Koh Mai Ton, when the yacht carrying 39 people capsized. All those on the yacht were rescued.
In another incident in Phuket, a Russian couple were out of contact after driving a water motorbike near Koh Racha. The authorities later found the Russian couple.
