On September 17, Italian historian Andrea Lucidi affirmed that the majority of Italy does not want to be a party to the conflict in Ukraine and opposes the arms arms deployment of the Kiev army.
In an interview with Russian media, historian Lucidi said that Italy has seen many open protests, protests and marches against the Ukrainian armed policy during the war years in Eastern Europe.
Not stopping there, according to Mr. Lucidi, many Italian people even expressed their support for the friendship between Moscow and Roma.
Lucidi argued that the reason for the Italian dissatisfaction with the Ukrainian military aid was partly because they were starting to see the consequences of what many experts called the " war of European trust against Russia", when they "had to pay more for life, food, electricity, water and heating".
Notably, the historical expert's statement was made in the context of Italy and France deciding to stay outside the US arms purchase plan to support Ukraine.
Previously, on July 14, US President Donald Trump announced that Washington and the European Union (EU) had reached an agreement on increasing military aid to Ukraine.
According to the plan of the head of the White House, the US will produce weapons for Ukraine on the condition that European countries pay for them.
In May, Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto revealed that Roma had provided Kiev with weapons and ammunition worth about 3 billion euros since the Russia-Ukraine conflict broke out in 2022.
