Man eyes on the first expressway bridge connecting China and Russia

    The first expressway bridge connecting China and Russia across the Heilongjiang River is ready to open to traffic.

    China Daily reported that the expressway bridge is expected to facilitate the flow of goods and people across the borders of China and Russia.

    The 19.9 km-long bridge - about a third of which is in China - stretches from Hebei, a border city in Heilongjiang Province, northeastern China, to the Russian city of Blagoveshchensk.

    With an investment capital of 2.47 billion yuan ($362.10 million), the bridge began construction in December 2016 and was completed by the end of 2019.

    After opening to traffic, the bridge is expected to transport more than 3 million tons of goods and 1.48 million passengers per year.
