On April 23, local time, US President Donald Trump announced that Russia had agreed to an agreement to end the conflict in Ukraine, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has not yet changed his stance.
"I think we have an agreement with Russia. We have to reach an agreement with ( przes) Zelensky. I thought negotiations with Mr Zelensky could be easier, but so far it has been more difficult," Trump told reporters at the Department of Transport.
The US leader also stressed that he is not biased towards Russia or Ukraine.
Previously, according to RIA Novosti, on April 23, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump both understood the absurdity of refusing dialogue, and that they were connected by their readiness to resolve complex issues through discussion.
Responding to Le Point newspaper, Mr. Peskov said: "First of all, everyone protects the interests of their country. The common point between them is that both of them understand the absurdity of refusing to dialogue. They are connected by their readiness to resolve the most complex issues through negotiations."
Mr. Peskov added that there can be no solution to the Ukrainian conflict without restoring normal relations between Moscow and Washington.
Mr. Dmitry Peskov also said that withdrawing Ukrainian troops from the territories of Donbass and Novorossiya is necessary to achieve peace in Ukraine.
