On November 2, the Russian government issued a decree imposing economic sanctions on Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and a number of other senior officials.
According to the announcement posted on the Russian legal portal, these measures include freezing non-cash funds, unlicensed securities, assets in Russian territory and prohibiting capital transfers abroad.
This expanded list includes Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko, Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Oleksiy Sobolev, and Defense Defense advisor Oleksandr Kubrakov.
Several other officials and former officials were also targeted, including former Attorney General Denys Malyuska, representatives of the Tatyana Kovtun and Oleksandr Ilkov cabinet, Governor-General Kateryna Levchenko, former Minister Oleh Nemchinov, former Director of Zaporizhstal Gold Refinery and former Deputy Chief of the Office of President Rostislav Shurma.
According to Moscow authorities, these measures are part of the special economic sanctions that Russia is imposing on many figures who are seen as having a role in maintaining or promoting hostile policies with Russia.
In addition, the Russian Foreign Ministry also announced an entry ban for a number of representatives of the European Union and officials from member states of the European Union and other European countries. This move is seen as Russia's response to the 19th package of sanctions recently imposed by the EU on the country.
The new measures show that tensions between Moscow and Kiev continue to escalate, as war and economic responses have shown no signs of cooling down.
