According to the FSB, the subjects used a vehicle filled with explosives prepared by Kiev's intelligence agency. This Chevrolet Volt electric car is equipped with a homemade explosive device with great destructive power. Vehicles move from Ukraine to Russia through third countries.
According to the plan being investigated by the FSB, the explosives would travel to the Krasnodar region of southern Russia by a specialized truck, then "transfer them to another driver who would drive over the Crimea bridge to Russia's Crime peninsula and become a reluctant death bomb driver."
The FSB added that the detonators were detonated immediately after the terrorist group was discovered and that those involved in transporting explosives into Russian territory had been arrested.
The agency noted that this was the second time in 2025 that Kiev had attempted to attack the 19km-long Crimea bridge with a truck loaded with explosives.
In April, Belarus' security agency blocked a small truck carrying more than 500kg of synthetic explosives, believed to be aimed at a strategic transport route connecting the Krasnodar region and Crimea.
