Reuters reported that on May 20, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that there will be no fixed deadline for a peace memorandum and ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine because the implementation process is not simple.
Mr. Peskov's statement was made in the context of many parties urging this, hoping to be implemented "as soon as possible" - the spokesperson said.
However, Mr. Peskov did not hesitate to affirm: "There is no deadline and it cannot be done", while emphasizing that one of the most difficult parts is to build details for the memorandum of understanding.
The draft will be drafted by both Russia and Ukraine, the Kremlin spokeswoman said. These documents will then be exchanged and followed by complex meetings to build a common document.
Previously, on May 19, US President Donald Trump held phone calls with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and leaders of the European Union (EU), including France, Italy, Germany and Finland to promote the peace process for the 3-year war in Ukraine.
After the call, Mr. Trump said Russia and Ukraine would immediately begin talks on a ceasefire.
For his part, President Putin affirmed that Russia is re ready to work with Ukraine on a memorandum of understanding regarding a future peace agreement.
