According to RT, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov affirmed on May 7 that there had been no statement from Ukraine about the initiative.
Russia's response came after Mr. Keith Kellogg, a special envoy to US President Donald Trump, told Fox News that Kiev was ready to "freeze" the conflict in the current area and establish a 30-km-widekmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkmkm from the frontline.
In recent months, Kiev has repeatedly called for a 30-day ceasefire, but has not mentioned the establishment of a non-military zone. In March, Russia and Ukraine agreed a partial 30-day ceasefire mediated by the US to stop attacks on energy infrastructure. However, according to the Russian military, Ukraine has repeatedly violated the agreement.
On the weekend of the April Resurrection Festival, Russia also unilaterally announced a temporary suspension of military activities. Although the situation has shown signs of calmness at some points, the Russian Defense Ministry said Ukraine has violated ceasefire more than 3,900 times during this period.
Most recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia will suspend all offensive activities from midnight on May 7-8 to midnight on May 10-11, as a gesture to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the German Socialist Victory Day. Moscow has expressed hope that the ceasefire could pave the way for direct talks with Kiev without preconditions.
However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky rejected Russia's proposal, calling it a "moderation". At the same time, Kiev has intensified drone attacks on Russian territory, killing 15 people and injuring more than 140.
Despite this development, the Kremlin insists that increased attacks will not affect the announced ceasefire plan.
