The Russian Defense Ministry released a film shot during a large-scale air defense exercise. The country's military is being trained to counter enemy missile and plane attacks.
According to RT, the exercise was held in the Kapustin Yar range in the Astrakhan region of northern Russia with the participation of long-range air defense systems S-300V4 and Buk-M3 and Tor-M2.
These defense systems must detect, identify and intercept more than 40 targets, according to the Ministry's report. The ballistic missiles simulating from an altitude of over 150km were intercepted by fire from the S-300 missile.
Shorter-range systems such as the Buk-M3 and Tor-M2 must handle targets such as anti-terrain cruise missiles and enemy aircraft formations, some of which are as low as 7m. Another task for the Tor teams was to destroy a group of drones about 15km from their location.
More than 1,000 troops and 300 military equipment were mobilized by Russia to participate in the exercise.
