TASS reported that Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted on May 23 that Western countries have not conducted a proper investigation into the Nord Stream (Northern Flow) gas pipeline explosions and the West itself has limited the supply of Russian gas.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Russia remains the most reliable gas supplier, despite sanctions from Western countries and explosions at Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2.
Ms. Zakharova said in an interview broadcast on Solovyov Live TV: "Despite Western sanctions pressure and gas pipeline explosions, Russia is still the most reliable gas supplier and fully meets its contractual obligations."
Ms. Zakharova said that Western countries have not conducted a proper investigation into the Nord Stream pipeline explosions, while emphasizing that the West has limited Russian gas supplies, but has accused Russia of suspending gas supplies.
On September 27, 2022, Nord Stream AG reported unprecedented damage to three branches of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines in the Baltic Sea.
Swedish seismologists said they had identified two explosions on the Nord Stream pipeline on September 26, 2022.
After the incident, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office initiated a criminal case on charges of international terrorism.
Famous American journalist Seymour Hersh published an article citing anonymous sources inside Washington saying that the explosive devices were planted by US Navy divers under the Nord Stream pipeline in June 2022 with the support of Norwegian experts.
The New York Times later quoted US officials as saying the sabotage of the gas pipeline may have been carried out by an unidentified " pro-Ukrainian group" and that the US government was not aware of it.
