Several key figures in President-elect Donald Trump's cryptocurrency project will arrive in Abu Dhabi on December 9 to attend the Gulf region's largest Bitcoin conference, as Bitcoin hits a record high, Reuters reported.
Speakers include Eric Trump, Trump's son, and billionaire Steve Witkoff, the new White House special envoy to the Middle East and co-founder of World Liberty Financial (WLF), a cryptocurrency platform launched in September with support from the Trump family.
Eric Trump will speak on December 10 at the Bitcoin MENA conference, which is expected to attract over 6,000 people, followed by a private discussion in the VIP area with a $9,999 ticket reserved for large investors with market influence. Witkoff will also give a separate speech to this group.
According to WLF, Donald Trump is currently the platform's main backer, holding 22.5 billion WLF tokens and a portion of the company's revenue, while his sons Eric, Donald Jr. and Barron serve as brand ambassadors.
The conference comes as the cryptocurrency industry is at a crossroads. Trump, a longtime crypto skeptic, has pledged to make the U.S. the “cryptocurrency capital of the world,” sending Bitcoin above $100,000 last week.
The conference featured prominent names such as Justin Sun, founder of blockchain platform Tron and WLF's largest investor; Changpeng Zhao, founder of Binance, and Paul Manafort, former Trump campaign manager.
The conference will focus on the future of cryptocurrencies, policy and its impact in the global economy.
In Vietnam, representatives of the State Bank have repeatedly sent out the message: Bitcoin and other similar virtual currencies are not legal currencies and payment methods in Vietnam. The issuance, supply, and use of Bitcoin and other similar cryptocurrencies as payment methods are acts that are not in accordance with current laws.
