The wife of former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol appeared at the special prosecutor's office on the morning of August 6 to question her about suspected stock manipulation, bribery and election interference.
I sincerely apologize for making people worried, even though I am just an ordinary citizen, said Kim Keon Hee.
The wife of former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol said she would cooperate fully in the investigation but did not answer further questions regarding the allegations against her.
Kim Keon Hee has been accused of being involved in multiple corruption cases, including suspicions of receiving necklaces and other gifts from a cadre seeking favor in business operations. These gifts were allegedly given to Ms. Kim Keon Hee through a fortune-telling medium. She is also suspected of being involved in stock price manipulation.
During his tenure, Mr. Yoon Suk Yeol repeatedly denied allegations related to Ms. Kim Keon Hee.
The investigation of Ms. Kim Keon Hee is one of three investigations by the special prosecutor directed against former President Yoon Suk Yeol.
Mr. Yoon Suk Yeol was dismissed from office in April 2025 and arrested in July 2025 for declaring martial law in December 2024.
In addition to the investigation targeting Kim Keon Hee, President Lee Jae Myung also approved a special investigation into Yoon Suk Yeol's martial law decree and the drowning of a marine in 2023 during a flood rescue campaign.
In the incident of Marines, President Lee Jae Myung's Democratic Party accused the Yoon Suk Yeol administration of seeking cover-up.
