RT reported that the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that an Iskander missile attack had destroyed a Ukrainian command and control center in Russia's Kursk region, and released a video of the attack.
Ukrainian forces launched a large-scale incursion into the border area earlier this week.
In a statement on August 10, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Iskander-M short-range ballistic missile system had carried out an attack on a previously reconnaissance command post of Ukraine's No. 22 independent mechanized Brigade, not far from the border between the two countries.
"As a result, the Brigade's command advisory board, a total of 15, were killed," the statement said, adding that Russia would attack without hesitation.
The Russian Defense Ministry also released a drone footage showing a cluster of several buildings in a heavily wooded area, with at least one Ukrainian armored vehicle also in the area. One of the buildings was later hit by a missile, creating a flow of smoke into the air.
The Iskander missile can carry a payload of up to 700 kg of explosives, fly up to 500 km away and travel at hypersonic speeds.
In recent weeks, Russia has used the weapons to attack Ukrainian gathering areas, command and control centers, airports, defense industry facilities and other military targets.
The attack on Kursk Oblast was Kiev's largest attack on Russian territory since the conflict began. While the Russian Defense Ministry initially said that Ukraine's spearhead includes about 1,000 servicemen and dozens of armored vehicles, including some supplied by the West, media reports later said that the total force was at least five times larger, including some of Ukraine's elite units.
Moscow condemned the raid as a Provocative act and accused Kiev of targeting civilians.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials said the purpose of the raid was to sow fear among the Russian people and gain a more favorable position for future negotiations with Moscow.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the Ukrainian advance was thwarted and reserve forces were redeployed to the area.
The Russian Defense Ministry said that so far Kiev has lost up to 1,100 soldiers and 140 armored vehicles in the area.
