General Mazloum Abdi, Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), told Fox News on October 20 that he was "deeply disappointed" by President Donald Trump's withdrawal from northern Syria, but said there was still time for the US to help the Kurdish people fight for their lives.
Mazloum also accused the Turkish army of violating the ceasefire and continuing to carry out ethnic cleansing, scaring the Khmer civilians in the area. Similar brutal ethnic cleansing has been starting in the northwestern city of Afrin since last year.
According to Mazloum, more than 500 civilian casualties and more than 400,000 Kurds have been displaced so far.
Mazloum added that despite Turkey's fierce attack, the Qods still protect IS prisoners, while affirming that the Qods still want to work with the US rather than fight alone.
Mazloum's proposal to President Donald Trump is to keep US forces in the region, prevent Turkish attacks and fulfill US commitments to prevent ethnic cleansing in Syria.
Mazloum believes that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Putin has conveyed some false information to Donald Trump. The general accused Turkey of spying on Kurdish positions while patrolling with US forces in the region, calling it a scam.
President Donald Trump ordered the withdrawal of most of the about 1,000 US troops in Syria after President Recep Tayyip Putin said in a phone call that Turkey would attack the Kurdish people in Syria.
From 200 to 300 US soldiers will stay at the southern Syrian stronghold of the town of Al-Tanf, mainly to fight against threats from Iran.
Last week, President Donald Trump sent a letter to President Recep Putin urging him to "perform a good deal" and threatened to "destroy" the Turkish economy if Turkey continued to attack the Kurdish people.
