According to VNA, welcoming the delegation at Noi Bai International Airport were Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong; Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Tran Phuoc Anh.
Accompanying Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and his wife were Minister of Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan; Minister of Human Resources and Second Minister of Trade and Industry Tan See Leng; Minister of Health and State Secretary of Digital and Information Development Rahayu Binte Mahzam; Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Albert Chua; Singapore Ambassador to Vietnam Jaya Ratnam; Consul General of Singapore in Ho Chi Minh City Pang Te Cheng.
Prime Minister Lawrence Wong was born on December 18, 1972 in Singapore; graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor's degree in Economics and a Master's degree in Public Policy from Kennedy School of Harvard University (USA).
Lawrence Wong started his career in the public sector in 2000 at the Ministry of Finance. He held the position of Minister of Education from 2011-2015, held the position of Minister of National Development from 2015-2019; held the position of Minister of Finance from 2019-2022.
On April 14, 2022, he was elected by Prime Minister Li Hien Long and the Central Executive Committee of the People's Action Party (PAP) as the leader of the Fourth Generation (4G), replacing Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat.
He will hold the position of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance from June 2022 to May 2024.
From May 15, 2024 to present, he has held the position of Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.
Prime Minister Lawrence Wong's official visit to Vietnam takes place in the context that Vietnam and Singapore are promoting to realize the potential for cooperation in the context of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership that the two sides have just upgraded during General Secretary To Lam's visit to Singapore (11-13.2025).
During the visit, General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong witnessed the signing of many cooperation documents in the fields of wind power trade, digital transformation, prevention and combat of transnational crimes, financial innovation... creating an important foundation to promote the Vietnam - Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the coming time.
