Despite being busy with the latest proposal from US President Donald Trump to end the conflict in Ukraine, the EU still has to attach special importance to the high-level meeting with AU because the time forcing the EU to take advantage of AU and AU to take advantage of the EU more strongly, more substantially and more effectively, forcing both sides to promote the process of connecting the two continents.
At this meeting, AU and the EU focused on implementing the agreed agreements, instead of launching a new cooperation program. This approach to reality reflects AU's expectations for the EU to act on its commitments, in the context of the EU facing great difficulties in financial resources for new intercontinental cooperation programs.
The most important result of the conference is perhaps this concretization step and the two sides' new political determination to promote intercontinental cooperation, as if together taking a new journey after 25 years since the establishment of the partnership.
AU currently has many outside partners to cooperate with. However, the EU is still a partner that AU values because the EU is still a very important external resource for the EU in the socio-economic development and international integration of the whole continent. The EU is also a valuable counterpart to AU in AU's relations with other external partners, especially with China, Russia and the US.
The EU needs to promote cooperation with AU to compete for influence in Africa and ensure the supply of raw materials. Therefore, the EU must effectively implement the " Global Gateway" Strategy in Africa, support the African free Trade Zone, invest in digital transformation and green transformation, and strengthen coordination against terrorism, ensure security, promote sustainable growth and multilateralism.
With this summit, AU and the EU have taken another important step on the common path.
