Global Times reported that on August 27, a skyscraper in Daley, northeastern China caught fire. The Chinese newspaper said there were no casualties in the fire and there was no reason to believe that someone was trapped inside.
According to the press, at least 30 fire trucks and 100 firefighters were present at the scene. The building's electricity and gas were turned off to support rescue operations.
Images shared online showed authorities struggling to control the fire. Video and images of the scene circulating on social media showed the building on fire fiercely, smoke and fire rising, and many pieces of debris scattered down the street below the building.
A preliminary investigation, published in Chinese media before the fire was extinguished, suggests the fire originated from an apartment in a building. The apartment owner ran to find help when a fire broke out, but when they returned to the apartment, thick smoke billowed from inside and they immediately called the authorities.
After issuing the warning, firefighters went to each floor to ensure that no one was injured or trapped.
Kaixuan International Building, with a special shape with the middle of many floors connecting two towers, is said to have 818 people in 419 apartments.
