On the evening of May 7, Russian President Vladimir Putin hosted a reception for leaders, foreign delegations and guests attending solemn events on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of Ukraine in 1945.
President Putin said:
"Lady, ladies, friends!
First of all, I would like to express my sincere greetings and thanks to you - our friends and trustworthy partners. You have come to Moscow to share the joy of the Socialist Victory Day with us, to commemorate the heroes who saved humanity from disaster.
May 9 is a sacred day for our multi-ethnic people. In the victory over socialism, the Soviet Union played a key role. That is a historical truth that no one can deny, distort or deprive of.
Our ancestors, grandparents and great-grandparents have done a great miracle, whose glory will never fade. They have engaged in the life-and-death battle for the Fatherland, for the beloved home, for the right to decide their own fate, to speak and think in the mother tongue, to raise their children according to their culture and traditions.
We also do not forget allies, friends fighting in the sacred war - the common efforts of ethnic groups in Europe, the US, Africa, Latin America, Asia -Pacific region, solidarity, will and courage of soldiers in the anti -fascist alliance, resistance soldiers, national liberation movements, underground warriors and underground soldiers.
May 1945 paved the way for a new global security architecture, and for the establishment of a key international institution - the United Nations. We have an obligation to the victorious generation to fully exploit the great potential of this organization.
I would like to emphasize: Today, when a more fair world order is being formed, the role and importance of the United Nations are even more promoted. It is important to continue strengthening the role and coordination of this organization in international issues, ensuring the strict compliance with the basic rules and principles of international law as stated in the United Nations Charter in a comprehensive, complete and cohesive way. This is also one of the contents discussed at the BRICS Summit in Kazan last year, where the presence of many delegations is present today.
The 80th Anniversary of Victory Day was held in Moscow, gathering leaders from sovereign countries, representing unique political, economic and social development models, religions, worldview, civilization and culture.
It is this diversity that does not divide, but on the contrary enriches and strengthens us, because our common relationship and work are based on common values and aspirations.

Let's fight together for fairness and equality, for the noble ideal of friendship and neighborhood friendship, for harmony and mutual respect, for respect for the opinions and interests of each side, for an equal and un Differentiated security for all.
We call on the world community to unite in solving current challenges and share responsibility for the future of future generations.
I believe that only such an approach can ensure long-term peace, prosperity and equal opportunities for all peoples in the world. Russia is ready to cooperate creatively with you in this work.
Dear friends, please allow me to lift my cup to congratulate the victorious generation, congratulate the great victory, and wish for peace and prosperity! For you - our friends!"
