Xinhua News Agency reported on November 17 that a total of 161 ancient tombs were recently discovered in Shandong Province, eastern China.
According to the Te Nam Institute of Archaeology, this ancient tomb 161 belongs to many different periods, from the mid- and late Warring States period (475-221 BC) to the reign of the Ming and Qing Dynasties (1368-1911). Of which, most of the tombs discovered in China date back to the mid- and late Warring States period.
In addition to the discovery of ancient tombs, a series of other ruins including furnaces, wells... were discovered during the excavation process. From there, scientists discovered more than 300 antiques such as clay pots, pottery bowls and copper coins.
According to archaeologists at the Te Nam Institute of Archaeology, the tombs are allocated and arranged in order.
Archaeologists added that the discovery of 161 ancient tombs provides new documents to study burial customs, society and history of different periods in the Son Dong area.
