RT reported that a rare accident occurred at Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow, Russia early on August 1 when a fuel truck collided with a Airbus A321 of the national airline Aeroflot.
The plane was preparing for a flight to Sochi resort on the Black Sea coast, but no crew or passengers were on board at the time of the collision, Sheremetyevo airport's communications spokesperson said.
Both the plane and the truck were damaged after the collision. Images and videos at the scene, published by RT news agency, show a large crack in the nose of the Airbus aircraft worth more than 118 million USD.
The truck was crushed in the cockpit, however, the driver was fortunately not injured to the point of being hospitalized, only being treated on the spot.
The incident does not affect the operation of the airport and is still being investigated.
Sheremetyevo International Airport is one of four airports in Moscow. Russia's largest airport served nearly 50 million passengers in 2019.
On August 1, international flights were resumed from airports in Moscow, St Petersburg and Rostov-on-Don in Russia after a long break amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
