At the regular press conference on the afternoon of May 29, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang answered a number of questions from the press related to the issue of US visas for foreign students.
Regarding the information about how the US President Donald Trump's order to stop interviewing for issuing visas to foreign students affects Vietnamese students and Vietnam - US educational cooperation, Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang revealed: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as Vietnamese representative agencies in the US are working with the US side to learn about this information".
Ms. Hang noted that this is the time when many students from other countries, including Vietnamese students, are preparing to apply for a visa to study in the US in forms such as self- study abroad or scholarships.
"We hope that interviews and applications for study abroad visas for Vietnamese students will be conducted smoothly so that education can continue to be one of the pillar areas of cooperation in the Vietnam - US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership" - Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said.
Also at the press conference, answering questions about the impact of the recent announcement by the US President that Harvard University is not allowed to admit international students to Vietnamese students studying here, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam said:
"We hope that the US will continue to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese students, teachers, scholars and experts to participate in US education and training programs, including prestigious and high-quality universities, in line with the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the US, for peace, cooperation and prosperous development".
