At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the afternoon of August 14, Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang responded to the request for comment on the 2024 annual human rights report of the US State Department released on August 12, 2025, including content related to Vietnam.
Ms. Pham Thu Hang said: "We regret the annual human rights report of the US Department of State released on August 12. This report does not reflect Vietnam's achievements and progress in protecting human rights and the report also continues to make unreasonable comments based on inaccurate and unverified information about the actual situation in Vietnam".
The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized: Protecting and promoting human rights is a consistent policy of Vietnam.
Vietnam always considers people as the center, the driving force of the process of innovation and the development of the country.
The Party and State of Vietnam always strive to improve the lives and rights of the people and leave no one behind.
The basic human rights and freedoms are recognized in the Constitution of Vietnam, protected and promoted by specific documents and implemented in practice.
"Vietnam is always ready to openly discuss with the US side about issues that still have differences in the spirit of building, in order to enhance mutual understanding, thereby actively contributing to the development of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development between Vietnam and the US" - Ms. Pham Thu Hang said.
