At the award ceremony for defense scientists and experts on November 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared that the new generation of nuclear weapons will "guarantee security and strategic balance for the next decades - let alone for the 21st century".
According to Mr. Putin, the two main systems, the nuclear-powered Burevestnik cruise missile and the Poseidon nuclear tractor, have proven their superior capabilities after recent successful tests.
Russia does not threaten anyone. Like other nuclear powers, we are developing our nuclear potential steadily, he said.
The Burevestnik missile test in mid-October was described by the Russian Defense Ministry as a historic breakthrough: The missile flew more than 14,000km for 15 consecutive hours.
The special feature of this missile is its miniature nuclear rocket engine, allowing it to fly at almost unlimited range - something that no weapons system in the world can achieve.
Military experts believe that the Burevestnik can overcome all current defensive shields, thanks to its flexible flight trajectory and almost endless capability, making it a new symbol of "Russian strategic deterrence".
Immediately after the Burevestnik test, Russia continued to announce the Poseidon autonomous Nuclear Traying test.
The weapon is shaped like an underwater drone, launched from a Submarine and can move at high speeds at high depths. When carrying a nuclear warhead, Poseidon is likely to cause a radioactive songising if it attacks the opponent's coastal area - a scenario that raises particular concern in the West.
In early November, Russia also launched the Khabarovsk nuclear Submarine, designed to deploy Poseidon, marking the completion of a " triad of nuclear" including transcontinental missiles, launch weapons from Submarines and strategic air forces.
President Putin emphasized that in addition to military significance, the miniature nuclear reactor technology used in these systems also has great civil potential, which can be applied in the Arctic power plants or deep space exploration missions.
These technologies will benefit not only national defense, but also humanity, Putin said.
