On September 23, in Hanoi, a press conference was held for the 49th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run - For Peace 2024.
This is a race within the series of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024); 25 years since Hanoi was recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a City for Peace.
Previously, the launching ceremony of the race was held on March 24, combined with the Olympic Running Day for the health of all people. Since then, wards, communes and towns throughout the city have jointly organized the two events, creating a vibrant atmosphere of physical training and sports in the area.
With special attention and direction from the city to the grassroots, up to now, 26/30 districts, towns and cities have organized grassroots running tests. The number of participants in the test runs exceeded the targets set by the districts, towns and cities. The quality of the competition has also been significantly improved.
According to the schedule, the final competition will open at 7:00 a.m. on September 29 at Ba Kieu Temple and around Hoan Kiem Lake, with the participation of nearly 3,500 athletes (including 1,500 official competitors and about 2,000 - 2,500 athletes participating in the response run).
The competition includes amateur and advanced levels. In which:
Movement system: 1,750m run for men and women in middle and high schools of districts, towns (1 lap around Hoan Kiem Lake); 1,750m run for women from universities, colleges, vocational high schools, and foreigners (1 lap around Hoan Kiem Lake); 3,500m run for men from universities, colleges, vocational high schools, and foreigners (2 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake); 3,500m run for women in production and armed forces (2 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake); 5,250m run for men in production and armed forces (3 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake).
Advanced course for athletes of provincial and municipal track and field teams: Women's 5,250m open race (3 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake); Men's 8,750m open race (5 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake).
Regarding the award structure, the Organizing Committee will award individual prizes to male and female athletes ranked from 1 to 5; and award team prizes to teams ranked from 1 to 3 in each block.
The First, Second and Third prizes will be awarded to 3 groups: District groups; University, College, Vocational High School, and Open Group. The total prize value is approximately over 90 million VND.
