The story of the boss who talks less and does more
This action of Mr. Hien SHB not only helps the dreams of many fans and players' families to take flight, but also helps the Vietnamese team have more motivation to compete because they have a solid "rear" to cheer them on right in the fiery pan of the Land of the Golden Pagoda.
Before the semi-final match, although it was not yet known what the chances of the Vietnamese team advancing were, SHB offered a reward: 2 billion if the team won the ASEAN Cup 2024.
It was the enthusiastic cheering of the home crowd and this dose of mental doping from the bank chaired by Mr. Hien that "fueled" the players' legs with a brilliant journey to the finals, competing for the championship.
Not as noisy in the media as many other bosses, but over the past 20 years, Mr. Hien has quietly made many great contributions to Vietnamese football.
Not only contributing to creating a golden generation of players, Mr. Hien also helped Vietnamese football, helping V.League maintain stability during difficult economic periods, causing many bosses to withdraw from football.
Despite being a famous businessman and possessing a large fortune, at Hang Day Stadium, Mr. Hien often appears with a simple, familiar image. He often comes to the stadium, watches and encourages the players, and is ready to hand out hot bonuses to the players in winning matches.
For a businessman like Mr. Hien, that is not an act of showing off or bragging because that amount of money is nothing compared to the huge assets he owns.
It's simply because he knows that behind the players is a whole family, and the burden of food, clothing, and money weighs heavily like many other workers, so being rewarded with "fresh money and real rice" would be the most practical action. The fact that he uses cash to reward the players is the most realistic concern for their lives, thoughts, and families.
Not liking the noise in the press, not liking to talk much about himself and not liking to make shocking statements, the calm and subtlety of the Hanoi boss has left many marks on Vietnamese football. Coming to football since 2006, Mr. Hien's team at that time played in the Third Division.
But in just 3 years with strong investment, the team has been promoted 3 consecutive levels and is present in the most prestigious playground, V.League. Needless to say, we can also estimate how much money Mr. Hien invested in the team.
Immediately after entering the highest level of competition, the team of the SHB boss has become a rich team, setting many unprecedented records and is the team with the richest achievement list in Vietnam with 6 V.League championships, 3 National Cups and 5 Super Cups. Even in times of economic recession, in nearly 3 years of the COVID-19 pandemic, the economy has plummeted, but not a single day has the team been abandoned by Mr. Hien, the players in Mr. Hien's team and their families have had a full life from the heart of a boss who talks little, does a lot of Vietnamese football.
And the heart to bring Vietnamese football to new heights
Mr. Hien has never once loudly said that he wants to contribute to taking Vietnamese football further, but in reality, the actions of the SHB owner have shown his heart for the country's football.
That can be easily seen when Mr. Hien decided to focus on building a solid foundation for Vietnamese football. Hanoi Football Club is considered a model thanks to its systematic youth training system. This is also one of the most successful clubs in Vietnam at the youth football level.
Hanoi won the national championship at all three levels: U17, U19 and U21. With the championship in March 2019, U19 Hanoi won the 7th championship in history - a record for Vietnamese football.
The strong mark of success of Mr. Hien with the national team level began to be clearly seen from the 2018 U23 Asian Cup. Mr. Hien's favorite children such as Quang Hai, Van Hau, Dinh Trong, Duy Manh... brought the audience to sublimation in the moments when the national flag was solemnly planted in the snow-white stadium in Changzhou.
And since then, in the AFF Cup championships, SEA Games and many other important tournaments, there has been the mark of Mr. Hien's team.
In the current Vietnamese national team, many stars are or have come from the training center of Mr. Hien's club, such as Bui Hoang Viet Anh, Nguyen Thanh Chung, Do Duy Manh, Nguyen Van Vi, Nguyen Quang Hai, Nguyen Hai Long, Pham Tuan Hai.
In important campaigns of Vietnamese football such as U23 Changzhou, winning the AFF Cup 2018, reaching the semi-finals of the Asian Games 2018, the quarter-finals of the Asian Cup 2019, reaching the third qualifying round of the World Cup 2022, Mr. Hien's club always contributed 6-7 members to the Vietnamese team and was the club with the most players.
Among them are many main players, even playing important roles such as: Quang Hai, Hung Dung, Van Quyet, Dinh Trong, Duy Manh, Van Hau...
With a new generation of talent, Vietnamese football has broken out of the regional level and begun to dream big dreams. And Mr. Hien is the one who has built the dream for those dreams to gradually become reality.
Certainly, in the upcoming successes of Vietnamese football, people will see somewhere the shadow of Mr. Hien - the owner of SHB - who has quietly nurtured the dream of Vietnamese football becoming a dragon for over 20 years.
