On the morning of July 20, on the sidelines of the Vietnam pickleball "copper" event - Quang Duong collaborated with Wika to launch a collection called "Wika xQuANG DUNG CORE-X Pro Series", Mr. Duong Duy Duc - father of pickleball player Quang Duong shared about his son being eliminated from the US pickleball system.
Mr. Duong Duy Duc said: "For pickleball, I have coached Quang Duong to rise from zero. We keep talking about the top, but what is really the top? In addition, I myself have a training plan to improve the qualifications of Quang Duong and Bao Duong (Quang Duong's younger brother). I want my children to develop fully, not be in a hurry.
Quang Duong will compete internationally a lot, with a tight schedule with many new tournaments. I cannot reveal it yet, but Quang Duong will soon update. Whether they beat or not in the US is the same, it is still the 3 of us practicing together".
Quang Duong's father also emphasized: "If Quang Duong passes the training session with me, I will be strong enough to pass any tournament. Asia has just developed pickleball, the level of athletes will be much improved. Quang Duong is only 19 years old, and Bao Duong is 14 years old. They need time to shine around the world".
Previously, in mid-July, the US Pickleball Association (UPA) officially terminated the professional contract with the tennis player born in 2006. According to UPA, Quang Duong did not participate in the MLP tournament held from July 9 to 13 in Grand Rapids, Michigan without prior notice, and appeared at an exchange event in Khanh Hoa on July 12.
UPA said that this action violated the terms of the exclusive commercial contract he signed with the organization.
After that, Quang Duong's profile was deleted from the database of the Professional Pickleball Athletes Association. He also lost 6th place on the PPA Rankings, giving way to 3-year-old veteran tennis player Tyson Mc Guffin, who was 300 points behind Quang Duong.
Quang Duong is currently in Vietnam with his family to attend some sports exchange activities. Mr. Duong Duy Duc said that he had asked UPA for permission to take his son home for injury treatment and did not participate in the MLP tournament. He also said he would authorize lawyers to work with UPA to clarify the incident.
