Affirming a position in Asia
In the working session of the Executive Committee Conference of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation held last week in Hanoi, many professional opinions were given to summarize 2025 and continue to orient tasks for 2026 with national teams, in which the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team continues to receive top attention.
The results of the 2025 matches of the Vietnamese Women's Volleyball Team were evaluated as successful and excellently completed the set goals. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team won the SEA Games 33 Silver Medal, the AVC Nations Cup 2025 championship, the SEA V.League 2025 stage championship, the VTV Cup 2025 runner-up and participated in the 2025 World Championship.
However, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is expected to continue to do better in terms of expertise this year. We can find opportunities to affirm our rankings in the Asian arena. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team will have 2 key tasks in 2026: competing in the Asian Championship and ASIAD 20.
“ASIAD 20 is the focus of the Vietnamese Women's Volleyball Team. We really hope the team will continue to achieve its best form, having the opportunity to be in the group of leading teams,” affirmed a representative of the Professional Committee of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation after the Executive Committee Conference.
Regarding achievements, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is currently ranked 4th in Asia and ranked 4th at ASIAD. These results were affirmed by coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team at the 2023 Asian Championship and ASIAD 19 in 2023.
From 2023 to now, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team regularly participates in the Asian-level tournament, the AVC Nations Cup. We won the AVC Nations Cup in 2023, 2024, 2025. Of course, the teams participating in the above tournament are at a level below the top continental group such as Japan, China, South Korea, Thailand.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet commented: "The team is continuously competing in the AVC Nations Cup tournament, so athletes can rub shoulders and withstand pressures from opponents in many different schools of thought. In the past 3 years, the fighting spirit of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has improved a lot".
Starting to look for new players
In 2025, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet gathered more than 30 players at different times. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team is training to prepare for SEA Games 33. The Vietnam U21 team is also being trained to compete in the 2025 U21 World Cup.
The coaching staff began to have an interweaving of forces between young players and experienced players in the national team. It is no coincidence that coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet gave the opportunity to participate in SEA Games 33 with many young faces, notably Bui Thi Anh Thao, Le Nhu Anh.
1 year later, the generation of players such as Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Doan Thi Lam Oanh, Vo Thi Kim Thoa... will gradually reach the age of 30. And to ensure achievements in the long journey, interweaving forces is appropriate.
When preparing professionally for the 2025 U21 World Cup, head coach Nguyen Trong Linh said that the young players in the main squad are those who have a good opportunity to develop because they are considered the successor force to their seniors in the future.
The Vietnam U21 team at that time had players playing including Pham Quynh Huong, Nguyen Lan Vy, Bui Thi Anh Thao, Nguyen Phuong Quynh, Le Nhu Anh, Le Thuy Linh, Ngo Thi Bich Hue, Pham Thuy Linh, Lai Thi Khanh Huyen, Nguyen Van Ha, Ha Kieu Vy. Many of the above faces have had the opportunity to wear the Vietnamese Women's Volleyball Team jersey in 2025 as well as players who have played at the National Championship.
