The valuable gold medal came from the mixed C4 (C4 Mix) event, the Vietnamese team excellently overcame strong opponents from China and Kazakhstan to win the absolute victory. The 4 athletes who brought home this gold medal are Pham Hong Quan, Bui Thi Yen, Ma Thi Thuy and Hien Nam.
In the women's C2 1,000m event, the duo Nguyen Thi Huong and Nguyen Hong Thai played resiliently, only losing to the Chinese team and winning the silver medal, surpassing the North Korean team.
