Vietnamese players have achieved high results in the world chess tournament for children and adolescents for fast chess and lightning chess in Greece.

On the evening of April 15 (Vietnam time), in the rapid chess event, player Nguyen Nam Kiet excellently won the U14 Open championship. After 11 games, Nam Kiet won 8, drew 2 and lost 1 game, earning a total of 9 points.

The number 1 seed in this event, Dau Khuong Duy, also scored 9 points but lost in the match against Nguyen Nam Kiet, so he had to finish second. The third place also belonged to Vietnamese player Duong Vu Anh.

43 players competed in the U.14 open-ended speed game, including strong players from Russia, Poland, the US, Norway, China... but the trio of Vietnamese players had impressive performances.

Khuong Duy was the 2024 U14 World Championship winner in the tournament in which Nguyen Nam Kiet also won the bronze medal. In 2023, Khuong Duy won the gold medal, Nam Kiet won the silver medal.

Nguyen Nam Kiet and Dau Khuong Duy will continue to compete in the lightning chess event taking place today (April 16) and tomorrow (April 17) with the goal of winning the highest rankings.
