The race for promotion to the A-League volleyball tournament

HOÀNG HUÊ |

The final round of the 2024 National A-Class Volleyball Tournament will take place from October 10 to October 19 to find two tickets to be promoted to play in the national championship next season.

Today (October 10), the final round of the 2024 National A-Class Volleyball Tournament kicked off in Tra Vinh, gathering 8 men's teams and 6 women's teams. In the men's event, 8 teams including Ho Chi Minh City Police, Binh Duong, SK Pearlnest Khanh Hoa, Military Region 3, Ho Chi Minh City, Mobile Police Command, Ben Tre and host Tra Vinh will compete for a single ticket to play in the national championship next season.

Meanwhile, the return to the highest playing field of Vietnamese volleyball for women also promises to be fiercely competitive between 6 women's teams including Ho Chi Minh City, Thai Nguyen, Vinh Phuc, Kinh Bac Bac Ninh, Hai Duong and Vinh Long.

This year's tournament is expected to be the most attractive in recent seasons, gathering quality players from both domestic and foreign players.

In the women's category, Dang Thi Hong (Thai Nguyen) is the most notable face. Although only 1m68 tall, the female striker from Bac Kan has good jumping ability, powerful and diverse net attacks and stable defense. The female player of the U20 Vietnam team has always performed well in recent tournaments, so she will be the main hitter of Thai Nguyen in the race for promotion.

In the men's category, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team has participated in the competition. Tra Vinh has the presence of "Vietnam's Nishida" Nguyen Van Quoc Duy, while Ho Chi Minh City owns the "twin towers" Che Quoc Vo Lit - Truong The Khai. SK Pearlnest Khanh Hoa is led by the captain of the Vietnamese volleyball team - Duong Van Tien. Another national player, Quan Trong Nghia, also participated in the final round of the A-class tournament in the uniform of the Mobile Police BTL.

The Ho Chi Minh City Police men's volleyball team is predicted to be a strong candidate for the championship when bringing in a series of quality players such as Nguyen Van Hanh, Lam Van Sanh and Le Quang Doan.

In the 2024 season, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV) allows teams to increase foreign players. If in the qualifying round, only Kinh Bac Bac Ninh women's team was the pioneer when recruiting Thai striker Kuttika Kaewpin, then in the final round, the teams have invested carefully in foreign players to realize the goal of promotion.

It is known that at least 5 foreign players have been registered (2 players of Ho Chi Minh City Police, 2 players of Ho Chi Minh City women's team, 1 player of Kinh Bac Bac Ninh women's team). Foreign player Onuma Sittirak (Thailand) is one of the notable hitters in the final round of the 2024 National A-class tournament when she plays for the Ho Chi Minh City women's team.

The Ho Chi Minh City Police men's volleyball team has added two quality foreign players when signing contracts with Indonesian striker Rendy Tamamilang and Cambodian hitter Pin Sarun. This is also the only team in the men's category to hire foreign players, showing the ambition to win a ticket back to the highest level of Vietnamese volleyball.

Each team has its own professional preparation, but for teams with high determination and the goal of promotion such as Ho Chi Minh City, Kinh Bac Bac Ninh (women) or Ho Chi Minh City Police men, bringing in foreign players is the key to successfully scoring points and winning for them.

However, the teams in this year's final round are not easy opponents, and have good professional quality. Therefore, each club needs to prepare carefully for the upcoming matches to compete for the promotion ticket for next season.
