Former VFF Deputy Referee Ban from Football activities for 2 years

Thanh Vũ |

On April 3, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) issued a decision to ban former Deputy Referee Vo Quang Vinh from participating in football activities for 2 years.

Mr. Vinh received heavy discipline for falsifying records and documents in the work of checking and analyzing referees.

The incident started when Mr. Vo Quang Vinh also took on the role of VFF physical lecturer. He was tasked with examining his physical fitness for three FIFA female referees at the Hanoi Athletics Palace on 5.2. Although the test requires running 6 times 40m, Mr. Vinh arbitrarily allowed the referees to run only 4 times and record in the report that the referees have completed 6 times, and gradually achieved the requirements.

The VFF Inspection Board concluded that Mr. Vinh's actions were a serious violation, dishonest and affected the reputation of the VFF Referee Board. Previously, Mr. Vinh was also dismissed from the position of Deputy Head of the VFF Arbitration Committee on March 27 and the case was transferred to the Disciplinary Board for handling.

In addition to the 2-year suspension, Mr. Vo Quang Vinh was also suspended from his duties in a number of tournaments and was not assigned refereeing tasks in the coming time. This case is a big lesson for referee training in Vietnam, and at the same time demonstrates VFF's determination to handle violations and improve the quality of football refereeing.
