Le Quang Liem will go to India to compete in the 2025 World Cup starting on October 30. The player has received an official spot to compete in the 2025 World Cup from the World Chess Federation (FIDE) thanks to his position in the world's top 20.
In addition to Le Quang Liem, Vietnamese chess has young player Bang Gia Huy who is eligible to participate in the 2025 World Cup. The success of Peng Jia Huy comes from the competition results of the Vietnam Chess Team at the 2024 World Team Championship Olympiad.
The 2025 World Cup is part of FIDE's official competition program. This year, the men's event of the 2025 World Cup held in India has 206 players participating with a total prize money of 2 million USD. The champion will be awarded $120,000.
Players will compete in the standard chess event with a knockout round in 8 rounds. Each round and match will have 2 home and away matches. If the score is equal, the players will continue to play tie-break with quick chess and lightning chess to decide the overall victory.
In the list of the Organizing Committee, Le Quang Liem is ranked 13th with the elo 2729 coefficient while Bang Gia Huy is ranked 169 (elo 2440). In round 1, Le Quang Liem was exempted from playing. Bang Gia Huy will meet player Dardha Daniel (belgium).
In July this year, player Pham Le Thao Nguyen attended the 2025 Women's World Cup held in Georgia but did not stop from the first round.
