The 2026 Asian Vovinam Championship is scheduled to be held in Cambodia from November 21 to November 27.
The Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports and the Vietnam Vovinam Federation have decided to establish a Vovinam Team to train in 2026 towards the above tournament.
This year, coach Nguyen Tan Thinh continues to take on the responsibility of head coach. Coach Nguyen Thi Thanh also participates in the coaching staff.
The Vietnamese vovinam team started training from May 26 with a composition of 22 players. These are carefully selected faces from domestic competition achievements in the past time.
The Vietnamese vovinam team participated in the 2024 Asian Championship and won 20 medals (15 gold medals, 3 silver medals, 2 bronze medals). This year, the Vietnamese vovinam martial artist set a goal to try to achieve the highest results at the 2026 Asian Championship.
Vovinam has not been included in the SEA Games 33 program and is also expected to be absent from SEA Games 34 in 2027. However, the international competition program of vovinam is still held annually. Therefore, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese national team of vovinam still trains and prepares professionally for the top players.
Last year, the Vietnamese vovinam team competed at the 2025 World Championships and ranked first overall with 24 gold medals. In this result, the opposing martial artist won 10 gold medals and the performing boxer achieved 14 gold medals.
