Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh - Deputy Director of the Department of Physical Training and Sports of Vietnam was advised to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to take on the role of Head of the Vietnamese sports delegation at the upcoming 33rd SEA Games. This will be the first time Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh has held this role.
Currently, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has not issued a Decision to establish a Vietnamese Sports Delegation to participate in the 33rd SEA Games. According to Lao Dong's research, the Vietnam Sports Delegation is expected to have more than 1,100 members coming to Thailand to compete this time.
The goal of Vietnamese sports for the 33rd SEA Games is to strive to achieve achievements in the top 3 leading countries in terms of medal results. In which, we aim to achieve 80 to 100 gold medals.
Two years ago, the Vietnamese sports delegation attended the 32nd SEA Games in 2023 in Cambodia with 1,003 members. We won 136 gold medals, 105 silver medals and 114 bronze medals to lead the whole group.
The 33rd SEA Games will feature 50 official sports. The Vietnamese sports delegation will participate in sports and events focusing on the Olympic and ASIAD groups in the competition program at this Congress in Thailand.
After the Vietnam Sports Delegation participating in the 33rd SEA Games is established, the organizer will develop a plan to organize the Departure Ceremony to Thailand to compete. The Congress took place from December 9 to December 20.
