Erling Haaland re-establishes Ronaldo's record

NGUYỄN ĐĂNG |

Erling Haaland has equalled Cristiano Ronaldo's record, becoming the fastest player to score 100 goals for a European club.

The Norwegian striker reached this milestone in Man City's 2-2 draw with Arsenal.

Erling Haaland opened the scoring in the ninth minute, following a spectacular run that saw him beat Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba before slotting the ball into David Raya's net.

With this goal, Haaland has scored 100 goals in 105 matches for Man City.

After conceding an early goal, Arsenal took a 2-1 lead at half-time with goals from Calafiori and Gabriel Magalhaes.

However, the turning point of the match came at the end of the first half when Leandro Trossard received a red card.

In the second half, Arsenal played resiliently but still conceded a goal in the 90+8 minute.

Previously in 2011, Ronaldo scored his 100th goal for Real Madrid, also in his 105th match.

With Erling Haaland, he has scored 100 goals in 105 matches, with 14 assists.

In the Premier League, the Norwegian striker has scored 73 goals in 72 matches, with 12 assists. This season, Haaland has had an extremely impressive start, scoring 10 goals in 5 matches, with impressive performance.

In 2024, Kevin De Bruyne became the 18th Manchester City player to reach 100 goals, achieving the feat in 372 appearances for the club.

Haaland had many opportunities to improve his record against Arsenal, when Man City played comprehensively in the second half, thanks to playing with one more player.

Match statistics show that the home team at Etihad Stadium had 33 shots, 11 of which were on target, but only scored 2 goals.

Haaland had a dangerous header in the second half, but goalkeeper David Raya made an excellent save.

In addition, the Spanish goalkeeper also discouraged a series of other players such as Gvardiol, Walker... before Stones equalized in the 90+8 minute.
