On March 23, thousands of athletes from 72 territorial countries participated in the Da Nang International Marathon 2025. This is a record number of international athletes participating in the 12-year history of the tournament, affirming the strong attraction of Da Nang as a leading sports and tourism destination.
This year's event has three distances for adults, including Marathon (42km), Half Marathon (21km) and 5km, along with two Ronny dash distances (500m and 1.5km) for children. The race attracted more than 7,000 athletes, including about 3,000 international athletes, an increase of 42% compared to 2024. In particular, this year's tournament has competition from the world's top athletes. For example, the 42km Marathon will see a competition between Shadrack Kipkemboi (Kenya), Issel Kawabata (Japan), Otmane Menbar (Morocco) and outstanding athletes from Vietnam. Meanwhile, the 21km Semi-Maraathon race with the participation of Eric Kiplimo Mosbei (Kenya), James Drakeford (UK), Vimal Govendarajoo (Malaysia) and top female athletes in Vietnam.
Previously, on March 21, running clubs from many countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, Korea, Japan, and the Philippines also participated in the 5km meet-up Run exchange activity with members of running clubs in Da Nang and other athletes. This is an opportunity for exchange between running communities around the world.
